Camille Prats steps away from teleseryes to focus on family

After a celebrated run as Olive Caparas in GMA’s afternoon drama Mommy Dearest, seasoned actress Camille Prats has announced that she will be taking a step back from acting to focus on her family.

In a heartfelt post shared on social media ahead of the show’s finale week, Camille expressed deep gratitude for the role that reignited her passion for the craft. “When GMA offered me this role, it wasn’t a difficult decision to make,” she shared. “What I didn’t realize was how much I had been longing—as an actress—to take on a character different from the ones I usually portray.”

Known for her portrayals of kind-hearted, often self-sacrificing women, Camille relished the challenge of playing Olive—a more complex, layered character. “Playing Olive breathed new life into my passion for acting,” she said. “I’m truly grateful to have explored this different side of my creativity.”

She also extended appreciation to the show’s directors Gina Alajar and Ralhf Malabunga, her co-actors, and the production team who became a second family during their long taping days. “Thank you for opening your hearts to me. I’ll always treasure our meaningful conversations during lunch breaks and waiting hours,” she wrote.

But while Mommy Dearest became a personal and professional milestone, it also marked a turning point for Camille.

“This project is especially close to my heart as I’ve decided to take a break from doing seryes for now, to devote more time to my growing children and family,” she revealed. “Turns out, hindi ko pala kayang hatiin ang katawan ko and while I deeply love what I do and remain incredibly grateful for the support you’ve shown this project, I’m being called to be a wife and mom first.”

Camille, who has long balanced her career with being a hands-on mom, is no stranger to putting family at the center of her life. With three children and a supportive husband by her side, the former child star says this decision is one she makes with peace and joy.

“To all who watched, supported, and rooted for Olive—thank you from the bottom of my heart. Hanggang sa muli,” she ended, signing off with sincerity and grace.

While fans may miss seeing her regularly on-screen, Camille Prats’ story now continues in a different role—off camera, but just as powerful: that of a present mother, loving wife, and a woman fully embracing life’s seasons.
