ITOGON, Benguet — Nineteen households were evacuated to safer ground as clearing operations continue in Acupan, Virac, Itogon, following persistent soil movement and flowing mud water on Friday, 4 July 2025.
Personnel from the Itogon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) are working through hazardous conditions, as muddy water and debris continue to flow in the area.
Itogon Mayor Bernard Waclin appealed to residents, especially those living in landslide-prone zones, to undertake preemptive evacuation to prevent injury and loss of life. He warned of continued heavy rainfall due to the combined effects of Tropical Depression “Bising” and the Southwest Monsoon.
As of 11:00 AM, “Bising” was located 280 km west-northwest of Calayan, Cagayan. It carried maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 70 kph, and was moving west-southwest at 15 kph.
