The Japanese Association Manila, Inc. (JAMI) held its 8th Cultural Festival on 21 June 2025 at the Romulo Auditorium, drawing nearly 1,000 guests in a vibrant showcase of Japanese culture, music, and dance.
Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines ENDO Kazuya, Madame ENDO Akiko, and Minister and Consul General HANADA Takahiro graced the event, which was attended by Japanese residents and Filipino guests alike.
The annual festival is JAMI’s flagship cultural event aimed at fostering interaction within the Japanese community in the Philippines while promoting cross-cultural understanding. This year, 13 groups comprising about 430 performers presented choral pieces, traditional and modern dances, and instrumental music, filling the auditorium with applause and cheer.
In his opening remarks, Minister Hanada expressed appreciation to the organizers and highlighted the importance of events like the cultural festival in strengthening people-to-people ties. He noted that such celebrations transcend age and nationality, bringing Japanese and Filipinos closer together through cultural exchange.
“This event is a meaningful opportunity for cross-cultural exchange that transcends generations and nationalities,” Hanada said, also underscoring the milestone ahead as Japan and the Philippines prepare to mark the 70th anniversary of normalized diplomatic relations in 2026.
The event closed with warm smiles and standing ovations from the audience, signaling another successful celebration of friendship and tradition.
