More than P2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from a suspected drug peddler during an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Nangka, Marikina City on Monday night.
Marikina police officer-in-charge Col. Geoffrey Fernandez identified the suspect only as “Robin,” a 32-year-old resident of San Mateo, Rizal, who has been newly listed as a high-value individual.
The buy-bust operation was carried out by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Marikina City Police Station at around 10:40 p.m.
According to police records, the suspect had previously been arrested in August 2022 in a similar operation, where authorities recovered 55 grams of shabu worth P374,000.
In the latest bust, police confiscated nine heat-sealed plastic sachets and four knot-tied plastic bags, all containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu. The drugs weighed approximately 295 grams and have an estimated street value of P2,006,000.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against the suspect at the Marikina City Prosecutor’s Office.
The suspect is currently detained at the Marikina City Police custodial facility pending inquest proceedings.
