Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna extended her gratitude to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for declaring 24 June a special non-working day in the capital, in observance of “Araw ng Maynila,” marking the city’s 453rd founding anniversary.
Lacuna thanked everyone who has contributed to Manila’s development into a leading city in the country.
“To all who have helped us in public service, whether from the private sector or our colleagues, thank you very much to all of you,” Lacuna said.
The mayor stressed that Manileños should be proud of their city, where they were born, raised, educated, started families, and served in various capacities.
She also commended residents, local government employees, private sector partners and individuals who have supported Manila over the years.
“The help and support of each person should not be disregarded, because within 454 years, these have shaped Manila into truly being worthy as the capital of our country,” Lacuna said.
