JMC Philippines is officially entering the electric vehicle scene with the launch of two compact EVs — the EV2 and EV3. The cars were introduced by Astara Philippines, JMC’s local distributor, and are now available to Filipino buyers looking for budget-friendly, all-electric urban rides.

The smaller of the two, the EV2, is a compact city car measuring 3.5 meters long and just under 1.5 meters tall. Despite its size, it fits five passengers and has a few tricks up its sleeve. It’s powered by a 15.86 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery, which runs a single electric motor good for 35 PS and 84 Nm of torque. JMC says the EV2 can go as far as 201 kilometers on a full charge and reach speeds of up to 105 km/h — more than enough for daily commutes.

Charging the EV2 is done via a GB/T system, taking around 8 to 10 hours on a standard AC charger. Inside, the car comes with a 9-inch touchscreen, climate control, keyless entry, and a beige-themed interior. It’s also equipped with safety features like ABS with EBD, tire pressure monitoring, rear sensors, hill-start assist, and a reverse camera. Exterior features include projector halogen headlights, 14-inch alloy wheels, and a glass tailgate that improves rear visibility. The EV2 comes in three colors: Aurora White, Dynamic Green, and Future Cyan.

WITH its wider stance and sharper details, the JMC EV3 offers a more premium take on electric mobility in the small car segment.

Meanwhile, the EV3 is a step up in both size and features. It’s slightly longer and wider than the EV2 and adds more premium elements like a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen, leather seats, LED lighting, and a keyless start system. What’s under the hood also gets an upgrade: a 31.15 kWh ternary lithium battery paired with a more powerful electric motor that delivers 68 PS and 125 Nm of torque. The EV3’s maximum range is 330 kilometers, with a top speed of 115 km/h.

Unlike the EV2, the EV3 supports faster and more flexible charging. It uses a Type 2 (CCS2) system that works with both AC and DC chargers. On an AC charger, it takes 8 to 10 hours to fully charge the battery. With a DC fast charger, JMC says you can go from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

The EV3 also comes with a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, wraparound taillights, and added body reinforcement using 1500 MPa thermal-formed steel. It’s available in four colors: Aurora White, Dynamic Green, Future Cyan, and an exclusive Cherry Blossom Pink.

Price-wise, the EV2 goes for P668,000, while the better-equipped EV3 is tagged at P788,000. Both models are now available for viewing and test drives at JMC Cars dealerships nationwide.
