BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) has begun implementing a new three-minute response time for emergency calls, a directive from the recently installed Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III. This initiative leverages technology to enhance police efficiency and public service.
BCPO Director P/Col. Ruel Tagel emphasized that the three-minute response isn’t just about speed, but also about improving the overall quality of police service to the community.
Meanwhile, a high-ranking official from a national line agency based in Baguio City is facing charges after being apprehended for drunk driving on the night of 10 June. The official was involved in a traffic incident with another government official.
Police from BCPO Station 7 noted the official’s intoxication upon his arrival at the station. A subsequent alcoholic breath test at a local hospital confirmed he was indeed drunk.
The official has been charged with violating Republic Act 10586, also known as the Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013. The initial complaint of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property was reportedly retracted by the complainant, but sources indicate the prosecutor-on-duty has since reinstated the complaint.
