J.K. Rowling has introduced the new lead cast for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series, selecting from over 30,000 auditions worldwide.

Dominic McLaughlin will portray Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout has been cast as Ron Weasley in the highly anticipated adaptation.

“The talent of these three young actors is wonderful to behold,” said showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer-director Mark Mylod in a joint statement. “We cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen.”

They also expressed gratitude to the tens of thousands of children who auditioned, calling it "a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there."

Gardiner will write and executive produce the series while serving as showrunner. Mylod will direct multiple episodes and executive produce. HBO is producing the series in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television.
