Travelers to and from Leyte can expect better airport experience, with Tacloban Airport’s new passenger terminal building (PTB) set for completion by April 2026.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) confirmed the timeline on Sunday following an inspection by Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, who returned to the site to assess construction progress. His visit followed a similar inspection in March, where he pledged to closely monitor the project.
“This is in line with the President’s directives to upgrade regional airports across the country to enhance the passengers’ travel experience,” the DOTr said.
Once completed, the new PTB will increase the airport’s passenger capacity by 1,000 and provide expanded space for aircraft and upgraded flight control facilities.
The improvements will reduce congestion, shorten processing times, and offer better amenities for travelers, including returning residents and tourists visiting Eastern Visayas.
The Tacloban Airport rehabilitation has received P2.3 billion from the 2025 General Appropriations Act.
