ZAMBOANGA CITY — Bangsamoro Chief Minister Abdulra of Macacua has ordered key regional ministries to deliver immediately humanitarian aid and safeguard affected communities from massive flooding that submerged vast areas of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, affecting 138 barangays in 14 municipalities.

Macacua said yesterday that the flooding, triggered by continuous rains from the Intertropical Convergence Zone, has displaced hundreds of residents and destroyed over 2,033 hectares of crops and livestock.

On Tuesday, a sudden surge of floodwaters swept through Datu Anggal Midtimbang and surrounding areas, leaving homes submerged and roads impassable.

The Chief Minister assured the public that his office is now in close coordination with key agencies. “In Sha Allah, through our collective efforts, we will overcome this safely,” he added.

The Provincial Sanggunian of Maguindanao del Sur has declared a state of calamity in Datu Piang under MDRRMC Resolution No. 001 series of 2025 on 21 May 2025, in response to the flooding and severity of the damages caused by the ITCZ.
