Punk rock trio Green Day was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, just days after their high-energy performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The 2,810th star, unveiled at 6212 Hollywood Blvd., is located near Amoeba Music in Hollywood, where the band also held a celebratory event. The honor marks another milestone in the band’s celebrated career, which includes five Grammy wins and 19 nominations, as well as their 2015 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
"We love you guys so much," lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong told a cheering crowd gathered for the ceremony.
Actor Ryan Reynolds and producer Rob Cavallo, who worked on several of the band’s albums, joined Green Day members Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool at the event.
"But this is for all of us, thank you," Dirnt said.
Green Day is best known for hit songs such as “21 Guns,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” and “American Idiot.” The band rose to fame in the 1990s and has remained a defining voice in punk rock for decades.
