Lea Salonga has officially made history as the first Filipino to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking another milestone in her trailblazing career on the global stage.

The award-winning actress and singer was honored during a ceremony celebrating her decades-long contributions to theater, film and music. The recognition also cements her legacy as one of the most influential Asian performers in international entertainment.

Among the speakers was actress Ming-Na Wen, who shares a special connection with Salonga through Disney’s Mulan. Wen voiced the animated heroine, while Salonga provided Mulan’s singing voice. In her tribute, Wen honored Salonga’s lasting influence on the entertainment industry, crediting her with opening doors for Asian performers and becoming a source of inspiration for generations of artists.

“So let’s get down to business... Lea, you are someone fierce, beautiful inside and out, and determined. With a voice that soars into people’s hearts, you sing with such honesty and give every song your whole soul,” Wen said.

Salonga first gained worldwide acclaim after originating the role of Kim in Miss Saigon, a performance that earned her a Tony Award and made her the first Asian woman to win the prestigious honor. She also became the singing voice behind Disney princesses Jasmine in Aladdin and Mulan, introducing her voice to generations of audiences around the world.

The event was hosted by Sibley Scoles, with actress-singer Brandy, actress Ming-Na Wen and Glee star Darren Criss delivering tribute messages. Musician H.E.R. also attended the ceremony.

Beyond the Walk of Fame honor, Salonga is also part of the star-studded soundtrack for the animated fantasy film Forgotten Island. She joins SB19, BINI, H.E.R. and KATSEYE’s Sophia Laforteza. The movie follows best friends Jo and Raissa — voiced by H.E.R. and Soberano — whose final adventure together leads them into a magical world filled with shapeshifters, demons and witches.
