As the country prepares to celebrate Labor Day, the honest act of a taxi driver is being lauded.
Melchor Panilon, a taxi driver for Modern Trans Corporation, found a valuable item left in his vehicle by foreign tourists last Friday.
Without delay, Panilon turned the item over to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Regional Office VII in Cebu City.
The LTFRB Region VII commended Panilon for his honesty, saying in a statement that his action “serves as a strong reminder of the Filipino morals and values continuously upheld by the country’s workforce” and left a positive impression on the tourists.
“May the honesty of Mr. Panilon be as contagious as the smiles of the foreign nationals who fortunately left their valuable items to the hands of an honest taxi driver,” the LTFRB RO VII added.
