A 33-year-old male passenger was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 for possession of illegal drugs, in violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrest was carried out by the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) and airport authorities.
The suspect, a resident of San Mateo, Rizal, was about to board a flight to Davao when he was stopped at the final security checkpoint by the Office for Transportation Security Screening Officers.
Authorities found a small glass tube and a homemade sachet wrapped in duct tape after noticing a suspicious bulge in his pocket.
NAIA Police Station 2, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), responded promptly. A K9 unit confirmed the presence of illegal narcotics, and further testing with a Raman Chemical Analyzer revealed 1.5 grams of high-grade marijuana, commonly known as “Kush,” worth P2,100.
The suspect is currently in PDEA custody, and the necessary witnesses were present during the inventory of the seized items. The proper charges will be filed accordingly.
