Kapamilya star and It’s Showtime host Karylle recently lived every K-drama fan’s dream as she met and interviewed some of South Korea’s most beloved actors — including Lee Dong Wook, Lee Kwang Soo, Lee Da Hee and Lee Joo Bin — for their new series, The Divorce Insurance.
As a long-time fan of Korean dramas and culture, she was over the moon about being given the rare opportunity to sit down with the cast of a show. But one moment stood out above all: meeting her K-Drama gateway star, Lee Dong Wook.
“I tried my best to keep it together and be professional, but after the interview, I cried… It’s embarrassing to admit it, but okay, maybe I shed a tear,” she revealed. “The tears fell because it was an overwhelming sense of joy — as a fan of K-dramas, and my favorite actor, I guess, Lee Dong Wook.”
Karylle shared that the first K-drama she watched about a decade ago starred Lee Dong Wook. “It’s been a great journey ever since,” she said. “I’m so grateful that the person who ushered me into this beautiful world of K-Drama was right before my eyes, answering my questions.”
Beyond the interview, Karylle also got to take a group photo with the cast. She described how surreal the moment felt, especially with it happening just around her birthday. “It felt like a big, big gift so I’m so, so happy,” she said.
“That’s me trying to act cool — trying to be cool about things. I can’t believe that they were all like pointing to me… The joy is just immense,” Karylle added.
