
BALANGA CITY, Bataan — A former rebel surrendered to authorities in Pilar, Bataan Friday.
According to the Bataan Police Provincial Office (BPPO), the former rebel surrendered during an Intelligence Operation by the Bataan 1st PMFC and the Pilar Municipal Police Station.
The operation was held in coordination with the Bataan PIT, RIU3; Bataan 2nd PMFC; Bataan PIU; 302nd Maneuver Company, RMFB3; Bataan MARPSTA; District Intelligence Division, Eastern Police District; Naval Intelligence Security Group-Northern Luzon; RID3; 23SAC, 2SAB, PNP SAF; 69IB, 72MICO; and 7MIB of the Philippine Army.
The former rebel, identified as Ka Luis, is a member of Bagong Hukbong Bayan under Kilusan Larangan Guerilla (KGL) West lino blas Command operating in the province of Bataan.
Ka Luis surrendered one caliber .38 revolver, one ctg. 40 mm high explosive, and explosive materials consisting of a time fuse and detonating cord, that symbolizes his complete renunciation of support to KLG.
The BPPO cited that the Bataan Police fully supports the surrenderees who have chosen the path of peace and reconciliation with the government.
“Our local police acknowledge the courage of those who have decided to lay down their arms and rejoin society, and we are committed to ensuring their safety, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration into their communities. Bataan PNP will provide former rebels with opportunities to rebuild their lives, free from violence and extremism, as part of our ongoing efforts to promote peace and security for all Bataeños.”
