The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday urged the owner of a white BMW to come forward in connection with a hit-and-run incident early Tuesday that killed a 29-year-old call center agent.
Officers from the QCPD Traffic Sector 2 identified the registered owner of the BMW with plate number NAG 3535 as John Joshua Yap Ng, of Barangay 61 in Caloocan. Police said the vehicle struck Den Adrian John Viaje, of Barangay Bagbag, at around 2 a.m. Tuesday while he was crossing Quirino Avenue near the corner of Pagkabuhay Road in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches.
Investigators have a witness who reportedly saw Ng exit the vehicle after arriving home, having allegedly sped away from the scene without assisting the victim.
Closed-circuit television footage obtained by authorities reportedly shows the BMW speeding when it hit Viaje. Instead of stopping to help, the driver allegedly continued driving and did not report the incident.
QCPD acting director Police Col. Melecio Buslig Jr. has ordered a thorough investigation into the fatal hit-and-run.
“I have directed Novaliches Police Station 4 and the District Traffic Enforcement Unit to conduct an in-depth investigation to identify and locate the driver responsible for the incident,” Buslig said.
“I also urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to report it to the nearest police station. Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring justice for the victim and holding the suspect accountable,” he added.
Initial reports disclosed that Viaje was thrown by the impact and hit a concrete barrier, sustaining severe injuries. He was initially taken to Novaliches District Hospital by a barangay ambulance and later transferred to Quezon City General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Further investigation of CCTV footage confirmed the vehicle involved was a white BMW Series 7 luxury sedan, according to police. Land Transportation Office records indicate the vehicle is registered to Ng, with its last registration reported on 21 February 2025.
