The return of Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) is generating excitement, not just for its showcase of extraordinary Filipino talent but also for its dynamic judging panel. Among the judges, Eugene Domingo’s presence is particularly intriguing, and the story behind her inclusion is a heartwarming tale of friendship and mutual respect.

During the media conference for the show’s seventh season, Eugene revealed that it was none other than Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo who suggested her to the management.

"Gusto ko lang ishare sa inyo na I’m not here kung hindi sinuggest ni Kathryn na isama ako. So, I think that’s worth noting. Please note that," Eugene shared, highlighting the significant role Kathryn played in bringing her onto the judging team.

Eugene also expressed her eagerness to return to television, saying, "Because for a while, I’ve been thinking ano kayang show ang gagawin ko next? Ano next project ko? My god, this show landed on my lap and I just said I think this is the best show. I mean, this is the most entertaining show." The opportunity to judge on PGT, a show renowned for its diverse displays of talent, was an offer she couldn’t refuse.

For Kathryn, having Eugene alongside her on the judges’ panel brings a sense of comfort and reassurance.

"Iba rin yung kampante ko pag nadiyan si Ms. Eugene kasi syempre first time ko dito so everytime nandiyan, iba rin yung kaba," Kathryn admitted. (I feel more confident when Ms. Eugene is there because, of course, it’s my first time here, so every time she’s there, my nervousness feels different.)

Kathryn also highlighted the unique dynamic of having another woman on the panel.

"Yung simple lang na pag tingin ko sa kaliwa ko si Ms Eugene, iba yung pag may fellow babae na nakikita… Iba siguro yung energy din na nabibigay natin mga babae. Thank you also for guiding me," she added, emphasizing the supportive energy they share. (Just a simple glance to my left at Ms. Eugene, and it’s different seeing a fellow woman... We women probably give off a different energy. Thank you also for guiding me.)

With both Eugene and Kathryn experiencing their first stint as PGT judges, their camaraderie and mutual support are sure to add an extra layer of warmth to the show.

Eugene also teased viewers with promises of an exceptional season.

"If the Filipinos have given up on TV, don’t. The best is yet to come. PGT is the best show if not Sir Freddie won’t be here. I mean this is everything, this is entertainment, this is talent, and this is Filipino, what more can you ask for?" she exclaimed.

As Pilipinas Got Talent returns to screens on 29 and 30 March, audiences can expect not only a showcase of remarkable talent but also the delightful chemistry of a judging panel brought together by friendship and a shared passion for entertainment.
