After being recognized as the Best Airport for 2024, Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC) is poised for a strong year, bolstered by significant operational and sustainability achievements.
“Our vision for MCIA (Mactan Cebu International Airport) and our broader airport portfolio is to redefine the travel experience by integrating world-class operations, sustainable practices, and cultural relevance. We are proud to celebrate MCIA’s achievements as AIC marks its 10th anniversary,” said AIC president and CEO Cosette V. Canilao.
“We remain committed to delivering an exceptional airport experience that not only enhances connectivity but also upholds our responsibility to the environment and the communities we serve,” added AIC vice president and Head of Airports Business Rafael M. Aboitiz.
In 2024, MCIA continued to push operational boundaries, highlighted by a key partnership with Cebu Pacific to enhance the passenger experience. Further solidifying its status as a premier hub, MCIA welcomed United Airlines flights in July 2024, expanding its connectivity to new routes. The gateway also introduced Cebu Connect, a seamless airport transfer solution, making air-to-air connectivity smoother than ever.
In February 2025, MCIA launched Cebu+, a partnership with Mactan Wharf Corporation and SuperCat Fast Ferry Corporation to improve airport-to-seaport connectivity and reach key island destinations around Cebu.
“MCIA’s 2024 milestones reflect our drive to create an efficient, sustainable, and uniquely Filipino airport experience. We are proud of our progress and excited for what lies ahead as we continue to innovate and elevate the journey for every traveler,” said Athanasios Titonis, CEO of MCIA ACAC.
MCIA’s commitment to accessibility was also recognized with the prestigious Level 1 Accessibility Accreditation from Airports Council International, highlighting its amenities for persons with disabilities.
These achievements contributed to MCIA welcoming over 11.3 million passengers in 2024, a 13 percent increase from 2023.
As a leader in airport sustainability, MCIA became the first Philippine gateway to receive a Platinum Green Airport Award and achieved Airport Carbon Accreditation, further cementing its role in eco-friendly airport operations in 2024.
