Royce Cabrera is set to captivate audiences once again as Juro in the highly-anticipated murder mystery series Slay premiering this March on GMA. Following his acclaimed performance in Widows’ War, the Kapuso actor will delve into a complex role in GMA’s first Viu Original series.
In Slay, Cabrera portrays Juro, a determined detective assigned to investigate the mysterious death of Zach, played by Derrick Monasterio. During the Viu Original’s media conference, series concept creator RJ Nuevas revealed insightful details about Cabrera’s character.
“Here, aside from being a detective, he also has a past, and he has a connection to Zach (Derrick Monasterio), which is why he’s investigating,” Nuevas explained. “He has a deep reason for investigating. And there will be a twist in the middle. There will also be a kind of twist at the end.”
Nuevas further elaborated on Juro’s unwavering pursuit of justice: “But [Royce’s] role as Juro, he always seeks justice for Zach, even as he gradually discovers that Zach is an asshole. For him, whether you’re an asshole or a good person, you deserve justice when you’re killed.”
Cabrera joins a stellar cast including Gabbi Garcia as Amelie, Mikee Quintos as Sugar, Ysabel Ortega as Yana, and Julie Anne San Jose as Liv, alongside Derrick Monasterio. The series also features notable actors such as James Blanco, Tina Paner, Matet de Leon, Bernard Palanca, Phoemela Baranda, Chuckie Dreyfus, Simon Ibarra, Jay Ortega, and Gil Cuerva.
Slay marks GMA’s first Viu Original, and it will also be the first time that the story will have differing points of view between the GMA and Viu Original releases.
Slay is currently available on Viu Original, and on GMA Prime beginning 24 March.
