Operatives of the Anti-Carnapping Section Regional Intelligence Division of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) arrested a key suspect involved in motorcycle theft and illegal resale on Thursday evening.
Police identified the suspect as alias Mark, a 31-year-old store supervisor, who was apprehended during an entrapment operation along Alibangbang Street, Barangay 179, Caloocan City at 11:20 p.m.
The suspect was found to be selling stolen motorcycles, in violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Law of 2016 and Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-Fencing Law.
The breakthrough came after two businessmen reported purchasing a Yamaha Mio Fazzio from the suspect, which was later confirmed as stolen from Bataan.
Further verification led to more victims coming forward, matching the stolen motorcycles with units in the suspect’s possession.
A swift response by law enforcement resulted in the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of four stolen motorcycles, including a Yamaha Mio Fazzio stolen from Bataan, a Yamaha Mio Aerox (Gray/Black) from Bulacan, a Yamaha Mio Aerox (Matte Gray) from Pampanga, and a Yamaha Mio Aerox (2024 Model, Black Matte) from Nueva Ecija.
The suspect is currently under custody as authorities conduct further investigations to determine the extent of his network and possible accomplices. Complaints are being prepared to be filed at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
