Meralco makes it a perfect 10 at the Anvil Awards

Manila Electric Company (Meralco) received ten Silver Anvil Awards at the 60th Anvil Awards, recognizing its excellence in communications, public service, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, and digital transformation.

The awards, organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP), honor outstanding public relations programs and campaigns that set the highest standards in the industry. Meralco was also a finalist for Company of the Year.

"These awards are affirmation of Meralco’s relentless efforts to capitalize on strategic communications that add meaning and value to the company’s impactful programs for our stakeholders. In addition, these also reflect the Meralco leaders’ proactive stance to empower our employees to continue going the extra mile to bring these initiatives to those who need it the most,” said Joe R. Zaldarriaga, Meralco Vice President and Head of Corporate Communications.

Meralco’s award-winning initiatives span a range of sectors, from public safety and corporate social responsibility to employee development and digital transformation:

  • Goodbye, Spaghetti Wires: The Meralco Anti-Urban Blight Program – A public safety initiative that tackles hazardous and unsightly dangling wires.

  • With Great Power Comes Great Reliability: Meralco’s campaign to address the energy challenges during the summer and typhoon season. – A yearlong energy security campaign.

  • Shaping Future-Ready Communications: Meralco Newsroom’s Leap into Digital Excellence – Showcasing Meralco’s adoption of innovative digital communication technologies.

  • Empowering Women in Energy: Suzette Castro’s Journey – A digital documentary highlighting the story of Suzette Castro, a female Meralco linecrew worker, balancing the challenges of being a mother and working in a male-dominated industry.

  • Training: Strengthening Workforce Knowledge and Values through the Meralco Way Training Program and Forging the Future of Engineering: The Meralco Cadet Engineering Program

  • Transforming Employee Communications through the Meralco News Revival – An internal newsletter, improving company-wide information dissemination and boosting employee engagement.

  • Empowerment Through Sports: A Soft Tennis Clinic Promoting Inclusivity Among People with Disabilities – A sports initiative fostering acceptance and empowerment for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

Additionally, One Meralco Foundation, the company’s social development arm, secured two Silver Anvils for programs supporting underserved communities: Household Electrification Program and Electrification for Development: Improving Agriculture in Mindanao.
