ZAMBOANGA CITY — Soldiers from the 33rd Infantry (Makabayan) Battalion disarmed and confiscated about 17 high-powered firearms from two warring groups in Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao del Sur, preventing a possible outbreak of hostilities and evacuation of people in the village.
Joint Task Force-Central Commander Brig. Gen. Donald M. Gumiran said yesterday the soldiers interfered in the armed confrontation between Marato Felmin and Baguindali Felmin in Sitio Damabago, Barangay Barurao in Sultan Sa Barongis, Maguindanao del Sur on Thursday morning.
According to Lt. Col. Udgie Villan, commander of the 33rd IB, that Marato Felmin and Baguindali Felmin who are both relatives engaged in an armed confrontation in the area due to personal conflict.
The military quickly intervened with the Radjah Buayan and Sultan Sa Barongis Municipal Police Station to disarm the warring groups.
