Caloocan City Councilor Arnold T. Divina of District 2 visited City Fire Marshal FSupt. Eugene M. Briones, MPA, to discuss a proposed ordinance aimed at enhancing public safety.
The ordinance (Ord. No. 1130 S. 2024) seeks to regulate the construction, installation, and maintenance of utility distribution lines, poles, and cables to eliminate safety hazards caused by dangling and improperly installed wires. It also establishes a task force for enforcement, imposes penalties for non-compliance, and mandates the issuance of implementing rules and regulations.
By enforcing these regulations, the ordinance aims to significantly reduce fire hazards caused by loose and overloaded utility lines — common causes of electrical fires — helping prevent short circuits and fire incidents to ensure a safer environment for residents.
