Xpress Super App, which is co-managed by Jean Henri Lhuillier of Cebuana Lhuillier, opened 150 slots for ride-sharing drivers under the transport network vehicle service (TNVS) in Bataan and plans to expand its offices in the province.

“This means more jobs will be created for Bataan residents in customer support, logistics and administrative roles, making Xpress an important catalyst for growth and employment in the province,” Xpress said.

Xpress said the TNVS slots support Bataan Governor Albert Garcia’s goal to broaden income opportunities in the province, after Bataan posted over 6 percent economic growth.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, Bataan’s economy grew by 6.9 percent in 2022 and 6.3 percent in 2023.

Among competitive province

This helped Bataan become the country’s 12th most competitive province out of 82 provinces under the 2023 Competitiveness Index of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The DTI evaluated the provinces’ level and quality of economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency and innovation.

Xpress also said it is preparing systems for courier delivery and grocery runs.

To help mitigate climate change, Xpress also will introduce electric vehicles from BYD as an option for passengers.

The announcement came after Xpress launched its electric tricycles on Boracay Island.

“The program has since grown to offer thousands of rides each month, effectively reducing carbon emissions while providing locals and tourists with a sustainable transportation alternative,” Xpress said.

Jean Henri Lhuillier serves as Xpress Chairman of the Board and president and chief executive officer of Cebuana Lhuillier, a leading pawnshop, remittance and microfinance firm in the Philippines.
