The Department of Health (DOH) reported Thursday that influenza-like illnesses (ILIs) were 54 percent lower this January compared to the same period last year.
As of 18 January, there were a total of 5,789 cases logged, compared to 12,620 cases recorded during the same period in 2024.
The DOH also reported one death, a 96 percent decrease from 26 deaths in 2024.
The top six causative agents from 1 to 18 January were Influenza A (common flu), Influenza B, rhinovirus (common cold), enterovirus, respiratory syncytial virus, and adenovirus.
The Health department, however, noted that late consultations and reports are still possible.
