2 nabbed in Solsona gun ban violation

SOLSONA, Ilocos Norte — A confrontation in Sitio Baltao West, Barangay Santiago on the night of 27 January led to the arrest of two individuals for grave threat with the use of a firearm and violation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Gun Ban.
Personnel from the Solsona Municipal Police Station responded to the incident at around 10:45 p.m., where a .45 caliber pistol was seized from one of the suspects, identified as Renz Ferriol y Solomon, 22, a gasoline station attendant from Barangay Bagbag, Solsona. He was with John Ray dela Cruz y Balaan, 19, a student from Barangay Aguitap, Solsona.
Initial investigations revealed that the altercation involved a group of individuals, including Anthony Domingo y Remigio, 21, Mark Donel Domingo y Manuel, 27, John Lorenz Remigio y Raguindin, 17 and Mark Anthony Ralleca y Baradi, 33.
During the confrontation, Ferriol allegedly drew his firearm, but the magazine fell, prompting him to return the weapon to his waist. A fistfight ensued between Anthony Domingo and John Ray dela Cruz before being pacified. Nearby residents, including Mark Anthony Ralleca, intervened, restrained Ferriol, and recovered the firearm before turning it over to responding officers.
Both suspects were immediately placed under arrest, informed of their constitutional rights, and taken to the Solsona Rural Health Unit for medical examination before being brought to the Solsona Police Station for proper disposition.
