A 67-year-old resident of Navotas City and a former barangay tanod was arrested by the Navotas City Police due to the alleged act of lasciviousness done towards a minor last 2024.
PLTCOL Randolf Perez Asuncion, Navotas City Assistant Chief of Police for Administration, said that the lascivious act was done twice, as he helped in preparing for the birthday celebration of the child.
“Our suspect was helping in preparing the venue for the child’s birthday, and around 1 AM, he went to the victim and carried her to his leg, and that's where the elderly man touched the private part of the child,” Asuncion said.
The police further stated that the lascivious act occurred again, and this time, the mother witnessed it.
“While on their way home, the mother inquired, and it was then that the child revealed being touched in that area."
The suspect, identified as alias “Joel” was arrested in his home in Navotas City under an arrest warrant issued by Judge Cecilia Parallag, of Navotas City Family Court.
Joel is facing a lawsuit in violation of Section 5(b) of the Republic Act No. 7610, with a recommended bail of P180,000.
The arrested suspect is currently detained in the custodial facility of the Navotas City Police Station.
