Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), has contracted pneumonia, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) reported Tuesday.
BJMP spokesman Jayrex Bustinera said Quiboloy is currently confined at a private hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
According to the jail official, Quiboloy complained of difficulty breathing, prompting the BJMP physician to recommend that the person deprived of liberty (PDL) be brought to the nearest government hospital for appropriate medical intervention.
Bustinera stated that on Saturday, 18 January 2025, at around 5 PM, Quiboloy was transported by BJMP personnel from the Pasig City Jail Male Dormitory to the Rizal Medical Center (RMC).
However, due to the hospital's limited facilities, doctors recommended his transfer to a hospital of his choice, Bustinera added.
"We assure the public that PDL Quiboloy remains under BJMP Custody and that strict security is in place while in hospital confinement," Bustinera said.
Quiboloy is detained at the Pasig City Jail in relation to the qualified human trafficking case being tried by the Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159.
