LAOAG CITY — Angelo Duldulao Porto, 41, was arrested on Saturday following a violent confrontation with police officers at Barangay 22.
Porto, a resident of the area, was the subject of police action due to his unruly behavior and alleged offenses.
Initial investigations revealed that Porto had left the scene when police arrived but soon returned driving a blue Mazda sedan. After engaging in dialogue with the officers, he left peacefully.
However, Porto returned and aggressively confronted his mother. When officers attempted to arrest him, Porto became belligerent, shouting insults at the police. He then re-entered his vehicle and sped off, striking PSSg Philip Tamayo on the leg while narrowly missing other officers.
Police pursued Porto and intercepted him on Rizal Street in Barangay 29.
Despite attempts to persuade him to surrender, Porto locked himself in his vehicle and refused to comply. Officers broke the car window to arrest him. Porto was informed of his rights and taken to the Governor Roque B. Ablan Memorial Hospital for a medical exam.
The police report indicated that Porto appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, though his medical report is pending confirmation.
Further investigation revealed that Porto’s wife had previous complaints filed against him, including cases of unjust vexation, estafa, and violations of the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act by his wife. Porto now faces charges of attempted homicide and violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code.
