BAGUIO CITY — Members of the Roxas police were able to arrest two suspects transporting marijuana bricks and leaves worth more than P26 million at Centro II, Mallig, Isabela Tuesday evening.
Based on the report, the authorities are manning a Comelec checkpoint at Barangay Nuesa, Roxas, Isabela when a speeding black SUV skipped the checkpoint and even hit the barricades and one of the patrol cars.
The police immediately launched a hot pursuit and alerted the police stations nearby especially at the possible routes the SUV will head.
After two hours, the police cornered the SUV where the two suspects were apprehended. During the search, the law enforcers discovered the contrabands inside the vehicle.
The seized items are 222 bricks of dried marijuana leaves with a total worth of P26,640,000, 19 rolled marijuana leaves worth P2,280 or a total of P26,282,280 and a hand grenade.
The suspects were identified as alias “JD,” a college student and a call center agent; and alias “Rick,” a kitchen staff. Both are said to be residents of Barangay Barangka Ilaya, Mandaluyong City.
The two will be facing criminal charges for violating RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of explosive.
