The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) seized nearly P5 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 30 suspected drug personalities during a weeklong series of anti-illegal drug operations across the Ilocos Region from 22 to 28 July.
PRO 1 said police conducted 27 anti-drug operations during the period, resulting in the confiscation of illegal drugs with a combined Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P4,995,729.60.
The largest operation was a marijuana eradication campaign in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur, led by the 2nd Ilocos Sur Provincial Mobile Force Company. Authorities discovered and destroyed two marijuana plantation sites containing about 23,000 fully grown marijuana plants spread across approximately 2,000 square meters.
The destroyed marijuana plants were valued at an estimated P4.6 million based on the Standard Drug Price.
In separate anti-drug operations across the region, police also confiscated 37.66 grams of suspected shabu, 1,147.93 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 0.63 gram of marijuana kush.
PRO 1 regional director Brig. Gen. Jovencio S. Badua Jr. commended the operating units for their sustained campaign against illegal drugs.
He said the latest accomplishments highlight the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations under the Philippine National Police’s Enhanced A.L.E.R.T.O. Framework and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to enforcing drug laws and protecting communities from the threat of illegal narcotics.
Badua also called on the public to support the anti-drug campaign by reporting suspicious activities to authorities.
He assured residents that PRO 1 will continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations and strengthen inter-agency coordination to curb the illegal drug trade and maintain peace and order throughout the Ilocos Region.
