American actor Faran Tahir returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming WandaVision spin-off series, Vision Quest.
According to Deadline, Tahir will reprise his role as Raza, one of the leaders of the terrorist organization The Ten Rings from the first Iron Man movie. While details about Tahir’s role in the show have not yet been revealed, bringing back a villain from Phase 1 could add depth to the character, similar to how Marvel Studios handled Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky/Abomination in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
To refresh everyone’s memory, Raza kidnapped Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) in Afghanistan under the orders of Tony’s former business partner Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges).
Stane eventually betrays Raza and his group after the latter obtains the blueprints for the first Iron Man suit and "executes" them off-screen. Raza’s fate seemed sealed in the 2008 film, but Marvel often revives past characters in intriguing ways.
Vision Quest is the second spin-off of WandaVision after last year’s Agatha All Along. Paul Bettany returns as the synthezoid superhero, trying to regain his memory and humanity after being killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and resurrected by S.W.O.R.D. (Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division) during the events of WandaVision.
There is no release window yet for Vision Quest.
