The baby who was abandoned by a man in Barangay Potrero last 23 December was turned over to the Reception and Study Center for Children in Quezon City.

Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval personally visited the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital and handed the baby over to members of the DSWD NCR last Tuesday night.

In a Facebook livestream, a doctor from the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital said that the infant was diagnosed with pneumonia based on his X-ray and cited that the infant was premature when found.

Lactating mothers within the hospital are also helping by donating breastmilk through the hospital milk banks.

“Thank you so much to the mothers who are helping the baby,” the city mayor said.

Aside from breastmilk, other mothers also donated clothes and other items that the infant will need.

Meantime, Malabon City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete vowed that the local government will focus on this case and ensure the welfare of the infant.

Based on the backtracking of the CCTV video, the Malabon Police said that the man who shared the information with the vendor was also the one who left the baby in a red eco-bag.

Police Captain Laline Almosa, chief of the Investigation Section of the Malabon City Police, disclosed that the man remains at large.
