Operatives from the Paranaque Police arrested a 37-year-old woman wanted for large-scale and syndicated illegal recruitment in Benguet inside a coffee shop in Manila last Sunday.
The Parañaque City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section identified the suspect as alias Jam, who was believed to be ranked fourth on the most wanted list at the provincial level by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Benguet.
Two warrants of arrest were issued for violation of large-scale and syndicated illegal recruitment under Section 6 of Republic Act 8042 (Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act), as amended by RA 10022, in relation to RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act) against the suspect.
The warrants were issued by Judge Daniel Dazon Mangallay of the Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 64, Buguias, Benguet, on 18 July 2023 and by Judge Leody Malillin Opolinto of the Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 62, La Trinidad, Benguet on 25 July 2023.
Alias Jam was detained at the Parañaque Police Station’s custodial facility and will remain in custody pending the return of the warrants to their respective issuing courts.
