The number of road crashes during the holiday season has reached 529 as of 1 January, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The recorded cases from 22 December 2024 to 1 January 2025 were 31 percent higher compared to the same period last year.
Additionally, six persons have died during the said period, in which four were involved in motorcycle accidents.
Of the total cases, 459 were not using safety accessories and 94 were due to alcohol use.
Meanwhile, of 33 new cases were monitored by the DOH on New Year’s Day.
