The local government of Malabon has encouraged its residents to remain vigilant as Christmas and New Year celebrations approach.
“I am reminding everyone of the importance of our safety and health during the holidays. The local government of Malabon City will respond to any type of emergency,” Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
The Metro Manila Accident Recording and Analysis System for 2023 showed that there were 7,771 vehicular accidents logged in December, the second highest after August.
Among the top reasons for vehicular accidents are human error and the lack of discipline and enforcement.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, on the other hand, disclosed that it has observed drivers operating their vehicles while under the influence of alcohol.
Malabon City Police Station Chief P/Col. Jay Baybayan shared that 160 personnel from the station and the City Public Safety and Traffic Management Office will be deployed in 11 churches throughout the city and checkpoint, to ensure the security of the churchgoers.
The local police chief estimated that at least 40,000 Malabon residents will be visiting the different churches in the city.
