NACTODAP, NPTC criticize MC taxi expansion

At a press conference on Wednesday, 18 December 2024, held in Quezon City, leaders from the National Confederation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (NACTODAP) and the National Public Transport Coalition (NPTC) criticized the government for what they described as a “blatant disregard” for their rights and livelihoods due to the sudden expansion of motorcycle taxis (MC Taxis) without proper consultation. The key figures included Quezon City Tricycle Franchising Board founding chairman Jopet Sison, NACTODAP and NPTC president Ariel Lim, and NACTODAP secretary general Reynaldo Bautista. They called on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to halt the expansion plans until a meaningful dialogue with stakeholders is conducted.
