BoC earns P1.8M from auction of forfeited goods

The Bureau of Customs (BoC) – Manila International Container Port (MICP) generated P1.802 million in revenue from a public auction of forfeited goods

The auction held on 29 November featured 13 containers across four sale lots, including items such as sandals, inflatable pools, cylindrical hinges, sodium sulfate, fire-protective board kits, a used motor vehicle, and other assorted goods.

The MICP’s Auction and Cargo Disposal Division collected P1,782,500 from auction proceeds and P20,200 from bidder registration fees, totaling P1,802,700.

Public auctions are conducted under Sections 1118 and 1139 to 1151 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), guided by Customs Administrative Order (CAO) 03-2020. These provisions enable the BoC to dispose of seized, abandoned, and forfeited goods through various means, including auctions. This process not only raises significant revenue for the national treasury but also supports the BoC’s mission to secure borders and prevent the entry of illicit or non-compliant imports.

Under District Collector Rizalino Jose C. Torralba’s leadership, the MICP continues to strengthen its enforcement and disposal processes, contributing to economic growth while safeguarding the country’s borders.
