The pop superstar is the first Filipina to be given the Global Force Award at the annual event organized by the international music publication and that will take place on 6 March in Los Angeles, California
Sarah Geronimo is set to be the first Philippine-born performer to receive the Global Force Award given out as part of the annual Billboard Women in Music Awards held in Los Angeles, California. The announcement was posted 24 February (Philippine time) on Billboard's social media pages.
In an article published by Billboard Philippines, Geronimo is described as "an artist that has carved out a place in the industry that's distinctly hers and continuously blazed a trail for young women and aspiring artists."
It also noted that "from top-selling concerts to chart-topping hits, she's undoubtedly a commanding force in Filipino music."
Aside from Geronimo, the other awardees for the Global Force Award are Luisa Sonza from Brazil and Annalisa from Italy.
This is the first time the Global Force Award becomes part of the awarding ceremony.
