Kadiwa role crucial, says DA Cordillera

BAGUIO CITY — The Department of Agriculture Cordillera is vowing to continuously side with vegetable farmers of Benguet and nearby provinces in the region affected by the low prices in the market.
DA Cordillera regional technical director for Operations Danilo Daguio said that the “Kadiwa on Wheels” program is one of the best ways to help farmers sell their produce and all they have to do is approach the municipal and provincial agriculturists to provide them with the process.
Meanwhile, DA regional executive director Atty. Jennilyn Dawayan stressed the importance of partnership and coordination of concerned sector is finding solutions to the problem the agriculture industry is facing.
“Here in the Department of Agriculture, we are continuously locating farmers and reaching out to them. We also collaborate with local governments to check for areas of concern,” she said.
She explained that addressing the issues of agriculture is not the sole responsibility of the DA but it should be a collective responsibility of the agency, the local governments, farmers’ association or organizations, and all stakeholders in the agriculture industry.
The vegetables are sold at an affordable price of P10 to P15 per kilo.
