TACLOBAN CITY — The Tacloban City Police Office arrested three suspects believed responsible for robbing and killing a public school teacher inside his house last Saturday.
TCPO information officer Police Capt. Noemi Jordan narrated that the lifeless body of the teacher — identified as Bernabe Basiano — was found inside his unit at Knightridge Subdivision, Camansihay village here. Basiano is a science teacher at Antonio Balmes National High School.
Investigators said Basiano had 39 stab wounds all over his body including his neck that resulted in his death.
The three suspects were identified based on testimonies of witnesses and were immediately arrested and brought to the Tacloban City Jail. Authorities are preparing cases of robbery with homicide against them.
The Department of Education, through regional director Evelyn Fetalvero, condemned the senseless and brutal killing of the school teacher and asked the authorities for help in seeking justice for the teacher.
Fetalvero also expressed her sympathies and condolences to the grieving family, friends and colleagues of Basiano.
