ZAMBOANGA CITY — Through its Joint Task Forces, or JTFs, AFP-Western Mindanao Command has been making progress against terrorism and insurgency in the Western, Central, and Southern regions of Mindanao.
Records of the AFP-WMC indicated that between 5 September and 2 November 61 criminal elements were neutralized by means of military actions.
Twenty of the individuals were Dawlah Islamiyah remnants, 15 were members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, and 26 belonged to the Abu Sayyaf Group.
The government was able to retrieve 56 weapons of different calibers, 24 of these came from the ASG, 15 from the BIFF, and 17 from the DI.
Nine marine patrols, four anti-smuggling operations, two anti-human trafficking initiatives, twenty anti-illegal fishing operations, and 22 anti-illegal logging activities have all received support from the AFP-WMC.
