Alden as real startup boss: What’s thinkable is possible

"What's thinkable is possible."
That's what Alden Richards realized when he formed Myriad — a startup with interests in live productions and e-sports.

Its first project is Huling El Bimbo, the Eraserheads concert on 22 December at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque.

"You have to start with step one, di ba, the journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. Never be afraid to fail because I really don't believe in the word 'failure.' There are no failures, only lessons learned," Richards said in a live stream of the Summit Sessions.

This early, the 30-year-old matinee idol admitted it's hard to trust people in the cutthroat world of business, especially in startups.

However, much as it's prudent to exercise caution, Richards said it's not wrong either to be a risk-taker, since "you'll never know (what will happen) unless you try."

Speaking of startups, Richards is in the cast of Start-Up PH — the Pinoy adaptation of the Korean drama series where he plays the character Han Ji-pyeong who's known for his investment skills.

What's been happening to Han is likewise unfolding to Richards in real life, said the actor, who first joined male beauty pageants and reality TV shows, and dabbled as a commercial model before landing a role in a TV series and a movie, and then striking gold as the other half of the AlDub tandem.

Now that he has ventured into business, Richards said he wants to help "change the landscape of actors, especially the new ones, dapat hindi lang tayo artista. Never get tired of dreaming and trying out new things."
