SM Foundation expands access to free healthcare
The mobile clinic features state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.

SM Foundation continues to bring free healthcare closer to people living in remote areas.
Its newest mobile clinic, the 7th in its fleet, is now operational after its blessing on 5 October.
The mobile clinic supports the foundation’s “Gamot Para sa Kapwa” medical missions. It features state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities to deliver essential health services directly to underserved communities. It offers X-ray, ECG, glucose, uric acid, hemoglobin and cholesterol testing for comprehensive care.
Medical volunteers support each medical mission alongside key partners, including BDO Network Bank, local government units, as well as other national agencies and community organizations.
The mobile clinic deploys this month to the Bicol region, bringing free medical care and diagnostic services to underserved communities.
Meanwhile, SM Foundation has completed the conversion of a barangay multipurpose hall in Danao City, Cebu into the Barangay Lawaan Health Station and Birthing Center.
The two-story facility serves as the primary health hub for 11 upland barangays. It offers primary healthcare, maternal services, telemedicine and a health digitalization program.
After an earthquake left the original health station structurally unsafe, the barangay’s former multi-purpose building was converted into a combined health station and birthing center under the SM Foundation’s Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Center Program. It is the program’s 232nd facility and was built to Department of Health and PhilHealth accreditation standards.
The ground floor houses a full birthing facility designed to support mothers from pregnancy through recovery. It includes an admission area, prenatal consultation room, nurses’ and midwives’ station, labor and recovery room, delivery room, sterilization and scrub room, breastfeeding room and toilets.
On the second floor are a comfortable waiting lounge with a mobile play area for children, consultation and treatment rooms, a pharmacy, and a dental clinic.
The facility is equipped with new furniture, LED appliances, and essential medical equipment, providing Barangay Lawaan and neighboring communities with a fully functional healthcare center.
Air-conditioning units and air-cleaning paints help maintain a comfortable and healthy environment for both patients and healthcare workers.
The center integrates SM DigiKonsulta, SM Foundation’s telemedicine and health digitalization program, allowing residents of geographically isolated communities to consult doctors remotely. Patient records are stored through a secure electronic medical records system compliant with Department of Health standards.
Served by the facility are the villages of Lawaan, Saksak, Ogis, Langosig, Santican, Pili, Cambubho, Magtagobtob, Bayabas, Danasan, and Dungga.
