Green GSM expands Northern Mindanao service

Green GSM has expanded its electric taxi operations to Northern Mindanao after a trial run that began in late August, with regular services now available across several cities and municipalities in the region.
The company formally launched the service in El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, on 29 September. Its coverage extends to Cagayan de Oro, Laguindingan, Alubijid and Opol, where passengers can book electric taxis for daily trips, longer journeys and airport transfers.
Green GSM said the expansion gives residents another transport option, particularly those who regularly travel between neighboring towns and cities.
Passengers can book through the Green GSM mobile application or contact the company’s customer service hotline. They may also hail an available taxi directly from the street.
The service uses an all-electric fleet of VinFast vehicles, which produce no tailpipe emissions and operate with less engine noise than conventional gasoline-powered taxis.
Green GSM said its vehicles are suitable for both short city trips and longer journeys between municipalities.
Fares are displayed through the mobile application or the vehicle’s official meter. The company said this allows passengers to check the cost of their trips and avoid uncertainty over charges, particularly on longer routes.
Drivers also undergo training in road safety, customer service and professional conduct before they are assigned to passenger operations.
The Northern Mindanao expansion follows Green GSM’s earlier introduction of electric taxi services in Metro Manila and other areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.
The company said the decision to begin regular operations in Northern Mindanao came after favorable results from its trial service in late August.
Pham Nhat Minh Hoang, global chief executive officer of Green SM, said the company sees room for further expansion in the region as demand for transport services continues to develop.
“Expanding into Northern Mindanao enables Green GSM to increase our service coverage in a region with strong potential, while giving more residents access to electric mobility with consistent service quality and reasonable costs,” Hoang said.
He added that the company intends to work with local partners as it develops its electric transport network in the Philippines.
Apart from passenger services, Green GSM expects its expansion to create additional employment opportunities for drivers.
The company also believes electric taxis can help reduce traffic-related air pollution and noise, especially in urban areas where conventional vehicles remain the primary means of public transportation.
Green GSM maintains five service commitments under its so-called Green Promises program. These cover vehicle quality, driver standards, fares, passenger experience and environmental responsibility.
To introduce the service to more passengers, the company is offering 15 Green Points to newly registered users. The points are equivalent to P15 and may be applied as a discount on future rides.
The company said it plans to expand its service network further while maintaining the same operating standards across its Philippine locations.
Its Northern Mindanao operations add another transport option for residents who travel between Cagayan de Oro and nearby municipalities, particularly those who need direct connections to Laguindingan and its airport.
