Raid nets P170K illegal drugs

Police officers confiscated an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and P170,000 worth of suspected shabu during a court-sanctioned raid in Barangay 2 on Sept. 27, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. announced Wednesday.

Members of Bacolod City Police Station 2 served the search warrant against a local resident identified by the alias “Rom” in Purok Kagaykay following complaints from community members.

Local residents reported that the suspect had allegedly brandished a firearm while threatening individuals in the neighborhood whom he suspected of being police informants.

Prior to obtaining the warrant, police conducted surveillance and confirmed with licensing authorities that the suspect did not hold a valid license to possess firearms.

During the search, officers recovered the firearm, live ammunition, and plastic sachets containing approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu.

Law enforcement authorities estimated the total value of the seized drugs at P170,000 based on standard government pricing.

Nartatez commended the public for reporting suspicious activities, emphasizing that public cooperation and intelligence gathering remain essential to preventing illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms from threatening community safety.

The suspect remains in police custody pending formal charges for illegal possession of firearms and violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
