The Philippine National Police (PNP) Aviation Security Group responded to an alleged bomb threat reported through an airline chatbot involving Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City recently.

The airline’s Customer Relations Center received a message claiming that a bomb had been planted inside a restroom at the terminal.

The report was relayed to airline airport operations and NAIA Police Station 3, prompting police to coordinate with the Aviation Security Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit (AVSECU).

AVSECU personnel, supported by NAIA Police Station 3, the Special Operations Unit, NNIC Security and explosive detection dogs, conducted a systematic clearing operation covering the arrival and departure areas.

Intelligence personnel also conducted covert monitoring, while police increased visibility and patrols and implemented additional security measures throughout the airport.

NAIA Terminal 3 was declared clear of explosives or incendiary materials, and airport operations continued normally.

Similar clearing operations, foot patrols, intelligence gathering and additional security measures were conducted at NAIA Terminals 1 and 2.
