THE Department of Public Works and Highways has fixed the barriers that went viral along an ongoing highway construction project in Limay, Bataan, after their inconsistent and widely spaced placement created an ‘obstacle course’ that caused difficulties for motorists.

LIMAY, Bataan — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has realigned improperly spaced road barriers and closed off sections of a highway in Limay after the construction zone was found to pose a safety hazard to motorists.
The misaligned barriers had forced drivers to navigate a zigzag route around active repair areas, creating what motorists described as an “obstacle course.”
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the road works were carried out in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that roads remain safe for public use.
He stressed that highway sections undergoing weather-related repairs, particularly those damaged by monsoon rains, must be properly closed off and secured to protect motorists.
Meanwhile, major DPWH infrastructure projects are underway across Bataan, including the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB), which has entered full-scale construction.
The P219.31-billion BCIB will span 32.15 kilometers across Manila Bay, directly linking Bataan and Cavite and providing an alternative route to Metro Manila.
