  • The 56th Infantry Battalion (56IB) has conducted capability-building activities for cadets of the Data Center College of the Philippines (DCCP) ROTC Unit, focusing on military leadership, discipline, information security, and basic land navigation.

The activities, organized under the 101st Community Defense Center, were held at the DCCP Gymnasium in Laoag City as part of efforts to enhance the skills and preparedness of future reservists.

On 30 August 2026, Staff Sergeant Jessie O. Viernes (Inf) PA led an interactive capability-building session for DCCP ROTC cadets, discussing military leadership, discipline, situational awareness and information security principles considered relevant to external defense.

The session also emphasized military heritage, core values and accountability, with the cadets encouraged to develop the discipline and resilience expected of future reserve personnel.

On September 6, 2026, troops from Bravo Company, 56IB, under the supervision of First Lieutenant Jason C. Aljas (Inf) PA, conducted a Map Reading and Land Navigation lecture for Military Science 1 (MS1) cadets of the DCCP ROTC Unit.

Corporal Edwin A. Bamo Jr. (Inf) PA served as the main instructor, teaching the cadets basic map interpretation, grid location and practical terrain orientation during their fifth training day.

The activities provided the cadets with practical military knowledge while complementing their formal ROTC instruction.

The 56IB said it continues to provide specialized military modules to academic institutions, aimed at strengthening the capabilities of future reserve officers and fostering civil-military cooperation in Ilocos Norte.
